About

The Beginning

Paul Patz (1911 – 2000), founder of Patz Corporation, started farming at a very young age.  His daily chores included cleaning the barn, plus feeding and milking 40 head of dairy.  As a visionary, he saw a need for an efficient, durable piece of equipment that would ease the laborious and time-consuming daily task of cleaning the barn gutters. His concept became reality when he designed, built, and installed his first barn cleaner in 1945.

During 1946-1947, he continued to refine his design until it performed to his satisfaction.  In 1948, Patz sold his first barn cleaner and began his business.  It soon became evident that the Patz Barn Cleaner would be a success.  At the core of the Patz Barn Cleaner was a one-piece, heavy-duty link that Patz himself invented and patented.  This unique link revolutionized and set the standard for the agricultural market and established the Patz Barn Cleaner as the industry leader.

First Factory Building

Barn cleaners were initially built on the family farm.  By 1950 the demand for Patz Barn Cleaners was so great that it was evident a factory and office building were needed.  That first facility measured 60′ x 112′.

The company’s footprint continued to grow at a steady pace.  In 1971, a fire destroyed the majority of the manufacturing plant.  With the same sincere faith that carried Patz through his first 25 years of business, the company started rebuilding a modern manufacturing facility.

The new plant included features that lowered production costs and increased efficiency.  The fire disaster turned into a blessing.  Today the Patz headquarters spans over 5 acres – 250,000 sq ft – under roof.
